Apollo Entertainment, which operates several licensed gaming platforms,Ontario online casinos has recently become the latest gaming operator to face penalties due to alleged breaches of gambling regulations.

This incident primarily concerns the adherence to responsible gambling protocols in Ontario. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario has imposed a fine of CAD 100,000 on the company for several specific shortcomings:

  • Neglecting to carry out essential interventions with players who may have been suffering from gambling-related issues. Notably, one player lost more than CAD 2 million in less than four months without receiving any support or intervention from the gaming site during this time.
  • Failing to establish an effective voluntary self-exclusion program and not providing adequate resources for players to set limits on their finances and gaming time (such as loss caps and deposit restrictions).
  • Not ensuring that their staff grasped the significance of responsible gambling practices, which includes offering assistance to players facing potential gambling-related challenges.

As per an AGCO announcement, Apollo Entertainment has shown a willingness to engage with the regulatory findings after consultation with AGCO and has already initiated significant measures to enhance the accountability measures on its platforms to rectify the identified issues.
