Kambi Partners with Great Canadian Entertainment to Launch Physical Sportsbooks

There's growing evidence that physical sportsbooks will soon debut in Ontario, highlighted by a recent partnership between Great Canadian Entertainment and Kambi to set up sportsbooks in their casino locations. This addition complements the emerging wagering market that initiated operations on April 4.Ontario betting apps Kambi specializes in sports betting services, offering user interface solutions, odds compilation, customer analysis, and risk management. These services are provided to B2C gaming operators utilizing a proprietary software platform. Clients of Kambi include notable names like Kindred Group, Penn National Gaming, Rush Street Interactive, and LeoVegas.

In March, Kambi received official approval to implement its sportsbook technology within the province.

Last month, Kambi announced its collaboration with two Mohegan-owned casinos in Ontario: Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Niagara. Together, they plan to install 36 betting kiosks throughout both establishments. Casino Niagara’s sports bar is set to be transformed into a retail sportsbook venue. MGE’s Play Fallsview, which offers digital casino and sports betting options, is already licensed and operational in Ontario.

Great Canadian Entertainment operates 12 casinos across Ontario.

Kambi will deliver its retail sportsbook solutions to 10 of these properties and establish betting kiosks.

Kristian Nylen, CEO and co-founder of Kambi, expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership with Great Canadian, noting their esteemed status in Canada’s gaming and entertainment sector and widespread retail presence. \"This emphasizes our leadership as a multi-channel sportsbook provider in North America, and we eagerly anticipate collaborating with Great Canadian's skilled team to create an outstanding sportsbook experience for their customers.\"

Tony Rodio, CEO of Great Canadian Entertainment remarked, \"Introducing sports betting at ten of our gaming locations in Ontario significantly enhances the experience we offer our patrons.\"

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation is in charge of regulating the establishment of land-based retail sportsbooks in the region. The wait for these physical sportsbooks to open has been frustrating for industry stakeholders, especially since such venues are crucial for revitalizing casinos that struggled financially during shutdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, along with mobile sports betting resources.
