Pinnacle Ontario sportsbook has obtained a license for sports betting in Ontario, marking its shift from the unregulated market.

However, Pinnacle has not yet started operations; the company must first finalize an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario.

For the past year, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has collaborated with grey market operators to assist in their transition from a long-standing, billion-dollar grey market to a legal framework. Grey market operators must secure their licenses by the set deadline in November.

Earlier this month, the parent company of Bet99 also received its gaming license from the AGCO forOntario sports betting and online casinos.

"Securing our license as an authorized gaming operator from the AGCO represents a significant achievement for SVH and the BET99 brand,\" stated Jared Beber, CEO of Sports Venture Holdings. \"Ontario plays a crucial role in the rising online sports betting and casino market in Canada. With the sports betting season gearing up, especially as summer sports reach their peak while football, hockey, and basketball seasons approach, this timing is optimal for us to kick off our operations effectively.\"

These announcements are crucial and serve as further evidence that Ontario is rapidly approaching the issuance of 40 iGaming licenses. Currently, 22 companies hold iGO operating agreements and are active.Ontario betting apps .

Paul Burns, president and CEO of the Canadian Gaming Association, informed deereplanet.com that we could witness a surge of new licenses being issued in the next week or two as the November licensing deadline approaches.
