Poll: Insights from Ontarians on Sports Wagering?

Following the recent introduction of online sports wagering in Ontario,deereplanet.com we conducted a survey among Ontario residents to identify emerging trends and preferences related to sports betting in the region.
Are Ontario Residents Betting?
The survey findings reveal that over 30% of Ontario residents, specifically 35% , engage in sports betting at least weekly, while close to 40% do not participate in any betting activities.
Approximately 25% of residents indicated that they place bets three or more times daily. Almost half of those surveyed, 48% , consider themselves moderate sports bettors rather than seasoned professionals.
Sports Brand Betting Preference
Among those polled, 18% expressed a preference for betting with the UK-based bet365 Sportsbook, while 17% favored the American platform BetMGM. Other popular choices included FanDuel ( 11% ), Caesars Sportsbook ( 8% ), and another brand at 7% .PointsBet All other licensed sportsbooks in Ontario garnered 2% or less of the preference from respondents; however, collectively, these options accounted for 40% of the choices, though no single brand received significant backing. About 70% of those surveyed reported winning at least $1 since sports betting commenced in Ontario, whereas 31% stated they had not engaged in sports wagering since that time.
18% of bettors affirmed they had won between $51 and $100 on one bet, while 17% claimed to have earned between $1 and $25. Notably, 5% of those surveyed mentioned having won amounts of $1,000 or greater from a single bet.
Which League Captivates Ontario Bettors the Most?
As of March, 28% of participants placed bets on the NBA, while 22% wagered on the NHL. Interestingly, despite the absence of live NFL games post-launch, 13% of residents still engaged in NFL betting, whether by wagering on NFL futures or betting on the NFL Draft last month.

The leading choice for Ontarians surveyed was the moneyline bet, with 15% indicating this preference over all other betting formats. Point Spread betting also received 15% support, while Totals betting, often known as Over/Unders, was favored by 13% .
